I can't believe it's been this long since I entered any information!
For the 24th of July, a holiday here in Utah, we watched the Ogden parade with all the kids & grandkids, then went home. Monica came over after a while and we had a bar-b-cue. It was nice to just spend time with her.
Éowyn Anne was born on Monday the 6th at around 6:05 pm at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. She weighed in at a healthy 7 lbs 10 oz, and was 20 inches long with lots of black hair. Alisha had a really easy delivery - she was only in the hospital about 2 1/2 hours when the baby was born and she didn't have an epiosotomy. I'll try to find some pics of the baby on my computer here to put into this blog.
My half-brother Marvin Christian Miller Jr was found dead at the Millstream Motel on the 31st. The Medical Examiner in Salt Lake says he died sometime Monday the 30th. It will take a while before we get the results of the autopsy, but they do say it doesn't look like foul play was involved. The Millstream is well-known in Ogden for it's drug dealers and prostitutes. Anyway, the funeral was held on the 9th in Preston, where Mom & Marv had purchased an extra plot in the Preston cemetery. It was a normal funeral, where Beckie, her son Cody and Paul all spoke. Following the dedication of the grave we went back to the Stake Center in Preston for lunch and around 3:30 we finally left. I got two days funeral leave, so we had packed the car to go camping over the weekend. We drove back to Blacksmith Fork Canyon and to a campground called Pioneer Campground, which is just west of Hyrum City Park. We were planning on coming home on Saturday, but when the time came we decided to stay another night. We drove back to Hyrum where we got a signal on my cell phone and made a few calls to have coverage at church, picked up a couple of things we needed (I had packed enough food for an extra day) and drove back to the campground. Later that day, after Allen struggled to remember how to tie a nail knot in his fly line, we finally drove back into Logan to a sporting goods shop and picked up some leader with a hooking device on it. Sunday morning he got up early and went fishing for a little while, and we had breakfast, lounged a little, then packed up the car and came home. I have NEVER been so grateful for hot water and a bath in my life!
Monday the 13th was back to work, but last night we had dinner at the Prairie Schooner and watched a presentation about a new aluminum foil-type product which can cut your heating and a/c bills in half. The guy is coming around tonight about 6:00 to give us an estimate.
I have done quite a bit of knitting, 5 hats for preemies and babies, plus a sweater and booties for Éowyn Anne. I am working on the matching bonnet now and should be able to get it finished tonight, then I am going to work on my cross-stitch some more. I think I'll have to work on knitting on Mon, Wed & Friday and cross-stitch the rest of the nights. I want to make a blanket for a preemie.
Well, 'til later!!!!
