Weekend blitz

It just occurred to me that probably no one who reads this will know who is in my family as I'm talking about them, so here's the run-down:

I married Allen Peterson

We had 4 children: Raymond, Desiree, Monica and Pam

Raymond married Alisha and has two girls - Caitlin and Kymberly, with a third, Eowyn due in August, but apparently destined to be born any time

Desiree is unmarried, but living with a partner in North Carolina. Her name is Lindsay Carroll.

Monica was maried, to Shane Robinson, and they divorced earlier this year.

Pam is married to Benjamin (Ben) Prince and they have one daughter, Emmalee, with a second baby due in December.

Friday night was quiet - we just watched TV, and I stitched. Although about 8:00 Allen tried to talk me into going for a walk with him and Buddy, our Springer Spaniel. I refused, I was just plain too tired. Saturday morning we got up around 8:00 and he took Buddy to the field at Bonneville Elementary to throw the ball for him and I went out into the garden and started to dig up weeds around the tomatoes and peppers. I couldn't even see a couple of the pepper plants the weeds were so bad and wound up digging them up and re-planting them. Allen came back when I was about 1/2 way done and came and helped me by doing the rest, and I went in and fixed breakfast.

Afterward we both went into the front room to rest. After about an hour I went to WalMart for a few things and when I got back, lunch time was on us. After a quick lunch of 'kraut dogs with chips & dip (it's now almost 1:00) I took a bath and then Allen took a bath and we got ready to be at Pam & Ben's at 3:30 to head out to the Days of '47 rodeo in Salt Lake at the Energy Solutions Arena (formerly known as Delta Center). Pam had won 4 tickets on the radio station she listens to. I had some certificates for Little Caesar's Pizza and that was what we were going to have for supper. We picked up our tickets and went to find a Little Caesar's. The closest one (we had been told) was at 8th South and 9th West, but we found a train blocking most of the through streets heading west. We opted to save the certificates and headed for Arby's instead. After feasting on their 5 for $5.95 special we drove back to the parking garage where I work, parked the car and walked the block to the Arena. Even Emmalee seemed fascinated by all that was going on with the animals, though she did get tired. We thought she'd sleep on the way home, but she was still wide awake when we pulled up in front of their house.

Sunday I went to the Infinia Care Center for Sacrament (I lead the music), then home for a few minutes, then to our wardhouse, where I picked up Allen from his meetings and we drove to Pam & Ben's. I put her hair in a French Braid, waited while she finished dressing and while Ben dressed Emmalee, then we went to their ward, where Pam & Ben were the speakers for Sacrament Meeting. Ben's parents, Beaver (yes, that's his real name) and Mary were there, so we sat by them, with Emmalee in between us. She pretty much could have sat with either of her grandparents, but chose to sit on my lap for most of the meeting. She is really a doll. She was singing the opening song with me, at least, it was her version of it. Pam told Mary Hurren Wight's story in the first person (Allen's GGGrandmother who crossed the plains with the Willie Handcart company) and then talked about the pioneers. She was dressed in pioneer style skirt and blouse with a bonnet on as she told Mary's story. After their Sacrament we went back to our ward for Sunday School and Relief Society/Priesthood meetings. Pam & Ben came over after their meetings for dinner. We had Navajo Tacos. They left about 8:00 and we turned the TV on again. I know, we watch a lot of TV.

I went to bed about 11:15, and Allen stayed up, he said he'd be in "in a few minutes", but he got involved in a movie and it was after 1:00 when he finally crawled in.

I had to get up at 4:30 and I needed him up before 5:00 to catch a bus to Salt Lake to work. I decided I don't like catching the 473 that I used to catch at 6:10 at 25th & Harrison. It gets me to work at 7:30 and then if I leave at 3:25, even taking a 15 minute lunch, I can't get in my full 8 hours. I'm usually short by 10 minutes or so. So I'm going to keep taking the 472 that leaves at 5:15. I get in at 6:30 and don't have to worry about having enough time on the clock.

Pam says that Alisha is having pretty steady contractions and she has really dropped, so she could have her baby at any time. I'll keep posting updates on the progress of the that drama.

Hmmm, Another Day, another quarter

I know, it used to be dollar, but with inflation and all....
So, I've been working on this cross-stitch piece called Double Dutch Sampler. Allen (my hubby)usually hates it when I spend the evening cross-stitching, but the other night he actually commented that he like what I was working on. I don't understand what he doesn't like about my stitching-I do it to keep my hands busy and be creative while I am watching TV. If I don't, I tend to doze in my chair, like he does. I'll post a picture, but warn you that it is a week old - I took one this morning of the more recent progress, but it didn't turn out. I'll try again next week.
Anyway, when I got home last night, I noticed that he had mowed the front lawn and washed up several of the dishes, including some pans (we don't own a dishwasher as our plumbing is all funny and won't handle one).
So, I won't usually post on Saturdays and Sundays, those are my days off work, and while I have access to the 'net, I don't usually take the time to get on. So, since today is Friday, it will probably be Monday before I get back to posting.....

Day 1 - A New Beginning

Well, folks, I have officially moved into the space age now that I have created a blog. I think I'll use it as much as a diary as a place to keep track of my cross-stitching progress (or lack thereof on some pieces). So, with that said, wish me luck as I venture forth.
